Locomotive D6353 / 27007

Close cousins to class 33, the 27s were based on the earlier class 26 with an up rated engine. 27007 was delivered to Eastern Region in 1962, although the entire class was based in Scotland for most of its service life.

This loco was withdrawn 1986 and purchased by the Mid Hants Railway. It entered service in 1992 and gave years of faithful service before being stored in 2000 with many faults. In 2003 it was privately purchased from MHR and a full overhaul begun, with attention to engine, electrical systems and bodywork. The loco is expected to re-enter service at MHR during the summer.
